Transition Policies
2012-2013
Attendance:
Students are expected to be on time for class and come prepared. You are to enter the class in an appropriate manner and follow the daily expectations. Any student who is late to class will be given no points for the day unless a pass is presented to the teacher. Attendance is taken daily and students can receive 5 points a week for attendance.
1- On time to scheduled class or a pass is presented
0- Came in after the bell and not pass is presented
On- Task:
Students are expected to complete any task that is assigned to them during the class period. Any student who needs a prompt due to not following direction, will lose points for the day. Students can earn up to 10 points a week for being on-task and following direction.
2- Doing work and following direction
1- 1 prompt was given to stay on-task
0- 2 or more prompts were given to stay on-task
Participation/Behavior:
Students are expected to participate in whole and small group activities during the class period. This may be such things, but not limited to, raising hands, waiting to be called on, joining groups, and completing tasks. Students are also expected to be on their best behavior in the classroom and out. Students will be respectful and follow the classroom and school wide rules. Students can earn up to 10 points a week for participation and behavior in the classroom.
2- Participating in the class activity (raising hand, answering questions, working with partner, working on work…)
1- 1 prompt was given and minimal participation is occurring
-Behavior is a little disruptive (blurting, loud, disrespectful…)
0- More than 1 prompt is given and minimal participation
-Behavior is disruptive (blurting, loud, disrespectful…)
Work/Assignment:
Students are expected to complete daily work tasks and turn them in on time. If work is not turned in when posted, points will be lost on that assignment. If the work is not turned in after 2 days, the student will receive a 0 on that assignment. The amount of points for work/assignments will vary week to week.
5- Work is completed and handed in on time
3- Work is 1 day late or turned in by the end of the day
2- Work is 2 days late
0- Work is not turned in or it is more than 2 days late
Grade Check:
Students are expected to complete one Grade Check each week. On Monday’s, students will check Skyward for individual class grades and missing assignments during study time. They will fill out a half sheet to record this information. During the week, students are expected to finish the missing work and hand in the half sheet on Friday with the missing assignments completed. If the sheet is completed and handed in on time, the student will receive 5 points. (This is a great way to keep students organized and responsible for their work)
5- Grade Check is completed and handed in at the end of the week
3- Grade Check is completed and handed in on Monday
0- Grade Check is not turned in or is handed in 2 days late (Tuesday)
Fridays**
If all work is completed and you have earned enough points throughout the week, you
may play games, listen to music or play on your phones during study time. This will all be done
quietly so other students will have the opportunity to get caught up. The expected amount of
points will be established on Friday due to varying weekly points.
